Renee Meyer Ernst was born in Busan, South Korea
and adopted to the United States at the age of three months. Significantly influenced by her life as an adoptee, Renee's personal work explores notions of forming and expressing identity within cross-cultural contexts. Renee completed a Bachelor of Arts in studio art from the University of Northern Iowa, and a Master of Fine Arts in graphic design from Iowa State University. She is currently an Assistant Professor of graphic design at St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa. Outside of teaching, Renee runs her own freelance design and photography business under the alias "Design by Mee" & "Mee Photography" (derived from her Korean name, Ha Mee Ye).
